Ungstrup (11075), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 5, 2007 Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, spices, and alcohol, tyme stands out among the spices. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit both fresh and a bit over ripe, combined with medium notes of caramel and alcohol. The latter leaving a slight burn along the sides of the tongue. Thanks to Alex (fiulijn). omhper (10438), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 3, 2008 Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear deep amber, brief head. Grapefruity caramel aroma. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel. Firm and solid maltiness. Concentrated flavour of grapefruity hops and licorice. Some caramelly malt flavour is found underneath. Long salty bitter finish. A solid beer beautifully lacquered with massive amount of hops, but bot a whole lot of depth. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 4, 2007 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a hazy, amber golden with an off-white head. Fat aroma of caramel and hops. Full-bodied with lots of caramel, overripe fruit and roasted malt - some spiciness too. Hoppy finish yet not overly bitter. We’re really talking Barley Wine borderlands here. 030707 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 2, 2008 Dull amber and slightly hazy. Chewy aroma with caramel and dried fruits and some woody hops. The palate is soft but chewy, a result of an intense caramel start mixing with an alcoholic finish. The sticky sugars this leaves on the palate clash a little bit with the dull woody hops. There are some pleasant characteristics here, but the structure seems either ill-conceived or the exectuion clumsy. yespr (6259), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 6, 2008 RBESG2008: 22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy brown with a slowly collapsing tan head. Light liqourice and woody hops aroma. Flavour is light roasted malt to a breadish base. Holds a nice level of bitternes with a mild fruity note. Ends smooth malty and hoppy dry.
