esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA May 14, 2008 Milky brown with thin off-white head. Nutty aroma with toffee and other assorted sweet malts. Taste is malty and semi-nutty with a bunch of not so good adjectives to follow… thin, metallic, sour, semi-bland. Semi-dry finish. blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA May 12, 2008 bottle poured an amber color with a big two finger head of tan froth that fell quickly to become a thin layer. aromas of malt, caramel, nuts, and earth. mouth feel is on the light side with muted carbonation. flavor of nutty malt, light bitterness, candy sugar, and slight hops bitterness. nothing jumps out in the aroma or the flavors. bottle is six months old so perhaps laking in freshness. ChrisJ (100), Warrenton, Virginia, USA May 10, 2008 Draft @ the brewery. Pours a deep brown and produces a small tan head. The aromas is nutty and malty. The flavors are run of the mill, nutty malty, slightly sweet and rather unremarkable. Not a particularly good representation of the style, Left hand brews way better stuff than this. donteatpoop (124), Youngstown, Ohio, USA Apr 30, 2008 A very light shade of brown, more amber than brown really. One of the palest brown ales I’ve ever had. A very small 1/2 inche white head formed at the top intially but dissipated quickly away. Virtually no lacing.
It was hard to smell much of anything, slight earthy scent, maybe a little nutty.
The taste was much more pronounced than the scent, very nutty and a caramel malt.
A bit watery in the mouth, goes down like water. It’s been said before, but I’ll reinforce the view, it tastes very similar to Newcastle Brown, save it’s a bit easier to drink and a bit more flavourful.
Serving type: bottle jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2008 Pours a deep amber brown with a bubbly tan head. Nutty and creamy lactic aromas are most present with just the faintest bit of hops in the background. Flavor follows the aroma well, but just a bit watery. Seems half-assed. lucke13 (90), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Apr 5, 2008 Pours a nice brown with off white head that falls quickly. Smells mainly of malt with some caremel notes. Tastes more bitter than the smell indicates it should, but not badly. There is a tang in the aftertaste that confuses me...not the best finish. Medium body with mild carbonation. jcweaver (65), VA Beach, Virginia, USA Apr 5, 2008 As I see others have stated, an average brown ale, not remarkable, not terrible...Average FLnative80 (174), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 25, 2008 Bottle. 12 fl. oz. Cloudy, mahogany color with off-white head. Aromas of toffee and wheat bread. Thin, watery body with a smooth, soft mouthfeel. Flavor resembles the aroma. Initial sweetness quickly followed by a dull, watery ending. Ok.
