It has a medium soapy-looing head. It smells like baking cinammon bread. It has a stale malty flavor but a is balanced pretty well with a nice hop bill. The whole beer has a nice mouthfeel, both full and slightly chewy. This is a decent brown but not anything to get too excited about. CP (124), USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 25, 2008 It is brown. It is an ale. It tastes like Newcastle. It is pretty thin and and boring. Same taste all the way through. I was so bored with it I slammed it after the first sip to get rid of it. popephred (193), Plainfield, Illinois, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, producing a redish-gold-brown body topped by a medium tan head, which mostly diminished. Hops and caramel notes dominate a strong nose. Initial tast was underwhelming, with medium carbonation, light bodyweight, developing some bitterness at the end. This ale had a burnt taste to it, which is quite different from the chocolates and coffee flavors I am used to. I was not happy with this contrast between a pleasant nose and charred, bitter palate. Not a favorite. alexsdad06 (1080), Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 24, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear brown with amber highlights and a small beige head. The aroma is moderately sweet caramel malt, a little roast, bread, and a touch of nuts. The flavor is roasted malt, light chocolate and nuts. Very thin and unexciting. thenick (744), North Bellmore, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Bottle from my beer club. Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and slight pine hop. Taste is malt up front with slight chocolate and nothing afterwards. Overall, the body was watery and thin, a letdown from the enticing aroma. gnoff (3568), Göteborg, Sweden
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 15, 2008 (Bottle at Bishops Arms, Avenyn, Göteborg) Shady brown color, medium size brown head. Chocolate, roasted malt (a hint), grains and malt, slightly acidic, some smoke scent. Acidic, roasted taste. Taste really doesn’t hold the promise that the scent left. Rather thin mouthfeel, also wuite low bitterness. Guess I was expecting more. Bottled on 04 25 07, is it just plain old? Or is it not an "American brown ale" but a plain old "English boring... ehm, brown ale"? dyetube (404), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 12, 2008 This beer pours a deep brown with a small tan head. The aromas are nuts, fresh trees and malts. The flavors are very uneventful and somewhat match the aroma. Not a very good brown ale, they brew way better stuff than this. Cheers! | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 12, 2008 Pors a rusty copper color with thin head. Smells somewhat of strawberries, but artificial, almost like strawberry milk. Kind of pleasant. Taste is rather thin and bland. Some nutty sweetness with a touch of unremarkable hops. Not my favorite stuff by a longshot.
