carboloader (318), Houston, Texas, USA Jan 31, 2008 Pours transparent mahogany color, small tan head dissipates quickly. Nondescript malt. Plain and harmless, but nothing stands out here. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA Jan 30, 2008 nice brown color, thin tan head, nutty malty, somewhat chocolatey aroma. flavor is essentially the same. for a brown ale, this isn’t too bad. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jan 29, 2008 Pretty decent brown ale, seems to be going for a hybrid of the slightly hopped American style and a more traditional English version. Very faint aroma, with some caramel detectable. Trace of nutty flavors and a slight sharp hop presence in the brew. But overall it’s pretty anonymous. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Jan 29, 2008 A very mild brown. Nice color with a big head. Flavor is malty with some hops. Aroma is bread like. Not great. Not bad. Hance07 (192), DownSouth, Georgia, USA Jan 28, 2008 Pours brown with offwhite head. Roasted nut flavor is there but very weak. Not a great brown ale. goldbrew (99), USA Jan 28, 2008 Updated: May 17, 2008Brown pour into dimpled mug. Aroma is slightly roasty with hint of dark caramel. I’m typically not a fan of brown ales, but this one mildly surprised me. Still not exactly a big taste winner though. The toasted flavor is muted enough and doesn’t overwhelm the senses. Malt is present but not cloying. Finish is compact and purposeful. It still won’t be one I’ll actively search for again. kevd193213 (477), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA Jan 27, 2008 Bottle. Amber brown pour with thin off white head. Aroma of caramel and nuts. Taste of malt and caramel. Pretty thin finish. Not terrible, but not great either. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jan 26, 2008 Clear muted red with a thin head. LIghtly sweet and nutty aroma. Caramel and mild cocoa flavor. Little hop flavor and low bitterness. Finishes fast. Fairly non descript. Theres nothing overtly wrong with the beer but one wonders what the purpose of it is.
