SkyinBrian (429), Collinsville, Illinois, USA Nov 14, 2005 not as boring as i thought it would be being a brown ale. some carmelly sweetness with hints of chocolate. not bad radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Oct 5, 2005 Bottle. Not a bad taste to it, a little sweet taste, and is quite light. Not much else. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Sep 18, 2005 Shockoe Beer Festival. Muddy brown orange appearance. No aroma whatsoever, and I almost inhaled it I was trying so hard. Faint roast coffee flavor. Just not much going on here. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Sep 18, 2005 Sampled from a bottle, I poured this into my snifter. It is a deep brown body with a rocky white head. Slightly hazy body with decent lacing. The aroma is very bland. Hardly distinguishable from nothingness. There is a light burnt toast and sweet caramel. The flavor has a weird malt/weedy flavor. Odd grains/malts. Not liking the flavor at all. Sweet. Probably better used to boil brats or to use to make some gravy. The flavor’s not offensive, just very strange and not to my likings. The palate is moderate. This beer’s not for me. Drain pour.
Update: I used 9 oz of this to make an oatmeal bread instead of water. I used regular white flour and oatmeal and this bread has a nice taste. More so than normal. This beer works better for baking than drinking. UNCCTF (464), Kannapolis, North Carolina, USA Sep 18, 2005 Bottled. Everything about this beer was pretty much average. Nothing snappy in the flavor, although some mild sweet caramel notes were nice. Easy to drink - would be a pretty good party beer. sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Sep 13, 2005 12z bottle. Deep amber hue with a tan head that quickly dissipated. Light roasted malts and slight caramel aroma. Smooth and creamy in the mouth with a chocolate cake note. "It is light bodied and slightly sweet", this is too true. But, at least they don’t claim it to be something it’s not! I think that, for what it is, it’ll do on a hot STL summer day when you need something with a lil more malt kick. jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Sep 8, 2005 Not really brown, more of a dark, dirty amber with a quickly fading head. Some caramel and toffee in the nose. Flavor also has notes of caramel, toffee and a hint of chocolate. Moderately sweet, not much bitterness. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. No head retention. Not bad but very average. tronraner (1906), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Sep 5, 2005 Bottle. Pours textbook brown with a thin white dissipating head. Faint barley aroma. Nothing really special here... reminds me of standard fare from a brew-kit. A bit of a woody finish. Otherwise boring.
