Pours a clear dark reddish brown with thin off-white head. Little head retention or lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of raisins, ripe fruit, some chocolate, some spice. Flavor is similar with more prominent chocolate notes, some sweet malt, toffee, caramel and maybe hints of coffee. Generally medium body with a sweet and malty finish. doubelknv3 (568), Illinois, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Bottle here in Colorado. Pours a dark brown color and develops a thin head with minimal retention. Rather hoppy and not too many noticeable other flavors. I didn’t care much for the taste. Filtered, clear medium dark caramel brown. Big dusty caramel syrup and maple cracker malt nose, dry and parched. Fresh, chewy, vibrant presence on the palate, but develops a sour, vegetal twang over the middle, turns into a strange minty toothpaste pastiness in the back. Smells decent enough, but tastes suspect. topcup (9), kutztown, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2008 12 oz bottle. slight cinnamon flavor. Drinkable. Not as flavorful as my last brown ale, Corsendonk, but nice on it’s own. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA
