Flavor was a little more complex, with some light smoke, nut and molasses. Well balanced and quite drinkable. Good mouthfeel, and slightly below average carbonation. Not as bitter as a lot of Brown ales. A pleasant surprise! SuperDave70 (1158), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA

Nuts, light fruit and caramel malt make up the light aroma, as well as the flavor. Refreshing, but not a lot going on. gws57 (1151), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 23, 2003 I wanted some action out of this beer so I went with a straight pour into my English Samuel Smiths glass. Action is what I got. Deep Cover poured a fat fluffy off white head atop a deep amber colored body. This aroma is malty, nutty, caramel, pretty boring. The flavor is again toasty, nutty, caramel, some toffee, dull and mundane. This is a good beer, but not one that would stand out in a crowd, or.. Throng, th-Throng, Throng, Throng…….Let me see that Thron..on..on…g! Sorry I was having a revised summer of 2001 Sisqo flashback. Gregis (1136), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Pours a deep orange-brown with two fingers of frothy beige head that diminishes to a thin cap. The nose is of toasted, malty, dark caramel and bready notes. Light to medium-bodied and creamy-slick with a sweet, mildly burnt and astringent finish. Sweet dark caramel and bready malt transition to a lightly dry and toasty finish. A sweet and malty brew; it’s nothing particularly groundbreaking, but it’s a decent brown.
