| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 12, 2008 bottle poured an amber color with a big two finger head of tan froth that fell quickly to become a thin layer. aromas of malt, caramel, nuts, and earth. mouth feel is on the light side with muted carbonation. flavor of nutty malt, light bitterness, candy sugar, and slight hops bitterness. nothing jumps out in the aroma or the flavors. bottle is six months old so perhaps laking in freshness. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 2, 2008 Pours a clear but dark brown that has ruby edges when held to light. Nose is a woody cotton candy. Flavor is a bit too sweet I say. Sure there are some nice bark like characteristics there, but it is just a little too loud in the sugar department. Over time though that seems to calm down and you are given more of that earthy, woody, brown ale character. Still seems a little too light on the end though. Feel is fine. But the overall drinkability stays good at best. Just seems to lack the right edge that would send it to another level. There certainly is potential there, but it just doesn’t come through. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2002 A little more robust than the Dillon Dam brown ale that I just tried. It has some more malt and caramel taste, which is a good thing. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Dec 28, 2008 Aroma is faint, sort of hoppy, a little nuttiness, a little bit of weird perfume like fruitiness. Plenty of head and subsequent lace, color is pretty bland about the lightest brown ale I have ever seen with no haziness at all. Taste continues on the weirdness pattern set up by the aroma.... Some kind of odd fruitiness, once again almost chemical in nature. The sad thing is that this flavor dominates the flavor so the good things that are happening here [hop bitterness, nuttiness, tea-like flavors] are overpowered, which is a shame because what seems to lurk in the background is very pleasant.
The palate on this thing is as thin as bud light, not good at all.
Not one of Left Hand*s better offerings.
