The aroma was nutty, some slight coffee, and light caramel. The flavor was roasty, coffee malt, and lacking. The palate was thin bodied. The finish had some raost. ROGUE (658), Newark, Delaware, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 16, 2009 12oz bottle. A decent brown ale. Aroma was dark malt, toffee and nuts. Pour was a dark brown with a one finger tan head. Taste was nice. Burnt and roasted malt, caramel and nuts with decent carbonation and a nice chewy aftertaste. There’s just a hint of coffee as the beer warms up. A lot of flavors here but nothing that jumps out. Seems a bit muddled.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 20, 2004 Cloudy iced tea color with no head. Sweet mild aromas of sugary malts. Flavor is uninspired mix of caramel and roasted malts that quickly goes away. Slightly bitter, carbonated finish. Not their best offering. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 5, 2006 Bottle Cold Pint Glass. Served cold at Electro Lounge in OKC. Has a fairly light nose, but not in a proper glass either. Dark slighty cloudy color with a quickly dissipating white head. Taste was rich compared to the Macro Browns but nothing very big, easily drinkable though. Some amounts of malty grains but no hops to speak of. Fairly light palate and light carbonation, I think it had to much in the way of filler grains used in the mash. Not a bod beer, I would order it again if the selection was limited. An easy drinking brown ale. Hoss (602), Florida, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 26, 2003 I found it thin and uneventful, I would disagree that it was in the UK tradition, this can only be said if the lack of hops makes it so (NIMHO). This is brown ale that a mainstream drinker could like. arjoseph (594), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2005 On tap at the brewery tasting room. 5 oz. glass. Clear golden brown with a yellow tan head. Caramel malt aroma with some cookie and bread, smells really good. Very flavorful for the light body. Nutty, somewhat like cornbread, malty sweet. Some low level acidity balances the sweetness. The hops are very soft and somewhat spicy. The nuttiness intensifies in the beginning of the finish. Very fresh grainy flavors in the beginning. I thought this was very good, much better than the overall rating suggests. It’s not going to win any awards, but it is among the best simply quaffable, unambitious beers I’ve had. Somewhat muddled between too sweet to too malty. Still refreshing with a clean aftertaste. Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA
