Commercial Description:
Deep Cover Brown Ale is brewed in the tradition of the brown ales commonly enjoyed in the U.K. Despite its reddish-brown color, it is light bodied and slightly sweet, making it a very drinkable and refreshing brew. Dark caramel malts lend this ale its rich color, while toasted and Munich malts provide just enough body to be truly enjoyable.

Bottled. Clear dark amber colour, low head. LIght caramelly in aroma, along with cooked vegetables. Flavour is pale caramelley with dms here as well. Light, light malty and low on the hops. Low bitterness. Far from any brown ale.

Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a large lasting amber head. Aromas of earthiness, carmel, chocolate and a hint of nuts. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, light chocolate, nuts and a hint of earthiness with a smooth bittersweet finish.

Draught. Pours mahagony with a rocky off-white head with many tiny fast-rising bubbles. Sweet maple and caramel malt aroma with a chocolate nose. Creamy sweet malt caramel and chocolate flavors. Creamy lacing. Light and somewhat watery thin bodied palate.

Pours a translucent amber (not really a brown) with an average tan head that dissapeared quickly. Aroma of caramel and toffee. Flavor of malts and some hops. A bit watery but smooth. Caramel also coming through on the flavor.

While waiting for my trusty SA glass to dry, I sneak a whiff and it smells good! Sweet maltiness like every good brewery smells, mmm. Pours really light for a brown and theres a slight metalic odor to it once it opens up a bit. Smells like a malted milkshake. Body is really on the thin side with not as much maltiness as the original aroma advertised. In fact, the long this beer sits in front of me bare for evaluation, the more I dont like it. In fact, I’m not happy at all. Buh bye Deep Cover!

When poured, this beer had a small sized tan head with large sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was clear with some carbonation observed and the hue was reddish-brown. The nose was lightly malty with a caramel and malty flavor to it. The mouthfeel was smooth and there was a fair amount of lacing with this beer. All-in-all, not a bad Brown Ale.

Bottle. Pours a copperish brown with a small tan head. Nose is slightly vegetal with malt, light caramel, and hops. Light fruit notes as well. Taste is better with creamy malts, caramel, light buttery popcorn notes, dried fruits, and light hops. Body is light-medium with moderate carbonation feel. Finishes with more caramel, malted sweetness, light hops, and dried fruit. Not too bad.

Pours a a dark, murky orange with a wispy white head. Slightly funky aroma, a bit of toe-jam and orange marmalade - mellows after a while. Sticky flavor, mangos, nectarines, some nuttiness, back end of spruce. Very full bodied and enjoyable. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Very different brown ale - tastes more like an APA to me. Thanks to Aurelius for this one - extra from his Ale in the Mail shipment.
