Dec 2, 2004 Nice brownish amber color with a brownish aroma. Slightly fizzy mouthfeel that accompanied a light malty taste.

Jun 7, 2005 On tap at the brewery tasting room. 5 oz. glass. Clear golden brown with a yellow tan head. Caramel malt aroma with some cookie and bread, smells really good. Very flavorful for the light body. Nutty, somewhat like cornbread, malty sweet. Some low level acidity balances the sweetness. The hops are very soft and somewhat spicy. The nuttiness intensifies in the beginning of the finish. Very fresh grainy flavors in the beginning. I thought this was very good, much better than the overall rating suggests. It’s not going to win any awards, but it is among the best simply quaffable, unambitious beers I’ve had.

Mar 6, 2008 Pours reddish in color and a nice metallic smell. Crispy head that quicly disappeared. Smooth barley taste. Teh left hand knows what the right hand is doing when it comes to this beer!

Jan 7, 2007 I don’t understand the negative ratings. This is one of my favorite browns ever. Mouthfeel is creamy and sweet. Very nice biscuity, doughy, malt flavors as well.

May 4, 2009 The color of this beer was much lighter than I expected, being a dark orange-brown but not a solid brown. The aroma was ok but hard to detect. The flavor was very nutty and surprisingly easy to drink. This reminded me of Newcastle but tastier. Nicely done session beer.

Aug 31, 2008 Taste 8/8 Bottled 10/17/07. Looks: Brown with tan top. Aroma: Sweetness, toast, yeast, coca bean. Fresh. Taste: Creamy. Nice sour and malt mix. Smooth bodied. Tastes of quality ingredients. Caramel. Good brownie.

Mar 4, 2008 BOTM Cask. Clear ruby, average head. Aroma of sweaty hops and roasty malt. Medium bodied with clean mouthfeel. The roasty malt dominates the picture, with apricots and soapy hops simmering on top. A pleasant enough brown ale, well above average.

Aug 2, 2008 I’m a bit shocked at the relatively low scores for this one. I loved it. Pours a clear brown/amber color with a small ivory head...no lacing. Aroma is odd when cold, but it takes on an excellent malty dark chocolate scent as it warms. Flavor is great...malty, nutty, wtih a bit of chocolate and coffee. Some hops, but just a touch. Palate is slick and smooth, with just a touch of fiz. Overall this is VERY drinkable brown, one of my favorites in the style, and an excellent session beer.
