Clear red/amber, stable head. Sweet caramel malt, raisen and smoke aroma. Sweet and smokey in flavor. The smooth smokiness is nicely balanced by melanoidins and maltiness. Some noticable alcohol. Long, sweet smokey finish.

750ml bottle-pours a big foamy tan head and amber/orange-brown color. Aroma is smoky/smoked bacon, medium/dark malt-caramel/chocolate, spicy/woody. Taste is nice smoky/peat that’s there and balanced, not over powering, medium/dark malt-caramel/chocolate/licorice, some sweet, secondary spicy/woody hops. Easy drinking, smooth, very likable. OK/mild carbonation.

Dusty amber color with creme-colored head which gathers on the edges. Smells like smoked salmon. Tastes like a campfire... where salmon has recently been charred. Excellent body - best if left to warm about fifteen minutes.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Innsbrook. Clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet molassas and rum soaked fruit aroma. Heavy carbonation, slight postage stamp and caramel flavor, some slight smoked malt. Medium body with a fairly high carbonation.

On tap at the Vintage Estates, thanks Nuts. Very nice fresh cooked italian bread aroma. Big foamy head that gradually subsides. Clear brown iced tea colr. Taste is spicey smoke and roasty, surprised by the barbecue. Some malt alky impact. Very little carbonation. Alky smoked spice character builds thru the session. Tho alky is pronounced, the flavors of this beer keep it only peeking around the side. Finish is mild bitter medicine. This stuff sings a western smokey campfire song the whole time you are drinkin it.

Very dark in color. Not much head. Malty aroma and malty taste. Not too complex but a decent doppelbock.
