Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout is a silky smooth, very flavorful black brew. It is a traditional style of strong stout originally brewed in Britain for export to St. Petersburg, Russia. The malty sweetness of the beer is tempered by a medley of roasted malt and the aggressive use of hops. A long conditioning time gives the brew time to mellow and mature. The beer is not filtered, allowing every subtlety and nuance to be enjoyed.

Bottle. Pours with a very dark brown body. and a fading, off-white head. Aroma of coffee, yeast, chocolate, roasted malted barley and oats. Taste is coffee, espresso, roast and chocolate. Oats give a smooth mouthfeel. Light carbonation.

Black pour with small off white head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, somewhat fruity, bit of smoke, dirt and earth. nice coffee flavor with some oat, earth and light astringency. Lacking in hops for and Imperial Stout.

12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours a dark brown with small head, looks thin for an imperial. Smell is brown sugar, fig, maple syrup. Taste is sweet chocolate malt up front with a roasty bitterness in the finish that is balanced by a nice hop presence. Medium body which is definitely thin for the style. Not bad, but doesn’t compare to some others.

I’m thinkin’ this is a very nice imperial stout. Especially since I bought it for $2.75 @ 22 oz. bottle on a close out. It’s strong (it’s affecting my typing). Lots of chocolate flavor, sweet but not cloying. I’m liking the mouthfeel. Did I say it was chocolatey?

Pours black with off white head. Nice aroma of roasted malts. Some good sweetness a little bit of bite, overall a good beer with nice mouth feel and decent amount of malts.

Pour is as expected with a nice thick rich appearance and a lighter than typical tan head. Good retention. Aroma is charcoal, faint whiskey, roasted notes, and dark fruit. It is not overpowering and is very pleasant. This beer is as smooth as silk and feels wonderful in the mouth. Flavor is on the sweet side with dark fruit, being dominant, whiskey, wood, and roasted notes. Alcohol was evident but not as much as expected. A super beer! Well done Left Hand!

Bomber at Lee’s. Pours deep brown with tan head. SMells of roasted malts and sweet caramel and molasses. Taste was similar with milky chocolate added. So tasty. pretty carbonated.

Pours dark brown, but able to see light through it and it has a small off-white head. The aroma is smooth, roasty (light for style), spicy and some hops. Medium body that is very light for the style with some fairly sharp, but unobtrusive, carbonation. The flavor starts with smooth roasted malt, some vineous traits and a bit of char on the finish. This is an enjoyable, but comes across much smaller than most impy stouts.
