| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2009 Walked into the brewery and ordered one of these. The dude at the bar gave me crap for some reason. This is very dark with a tan head. Roasty, sweet nose. The flavor is cloying, rough, hard to drink. Could only finish about half of it before i gave it away. Not that great. jredmond (1074), New Jersey, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Deep black beer with very nice tan head. The aroma is honey sweet, molasses, coffee, raisin, chocolate. Beautiful nose, and it’s still too cold to drink.
Motor oil thick, coating the entire mouth, a little tinny (could be from the cold). Tastes sweet and floral, hints of the molasses and slight bitterness in the finish reminiscent of coffee. There is no burn from alcohol although I feel the heat immediately in the cheeks.
The flavor is a little flat though, one dimensional and frankly a little boring. It’s a very nice beer to drink but I expected a little bit more of a punch in the flavor department. There is no lingering flavor, it’s gone. Maybe some cellaring would help?
I would choose the Bells Expedition Stout over this one any day.
Thanks Jenny for the sample. markwise (1200), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA

I was thoroughly impressed with this one/ Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Nose is chocolate malt, some roasted character, fudge brownies, and some dark fruit. Flavor is about the same with lots of chocolate, and milk/ sweetness. Finishes smooth and sweet. Excellent stout. kiefdog (1645), Tampa, Florida, USA
