Pours an opaque black with mahogany hues around the edges and 2 finger tan head that’s leaving nice lacing. Nose is roasty malts and coffee. Palate is roasted malt, milk chocolate and a touch of coffee with a minor hop finish. Creamy mouth feel. Alcohol is well hidden - was surprised to see it listed at 10%. Good stuff. daninferior (4), USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 4, 2008 pours nice, thin tan head, full body, thick feel, creamy, chocolate aroma very simalar to the stone russian imperial stout, minus the head jhumphries69 (730), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a deep, dark brown - almost black - with a thin, tan head that leaves only a little lace on the glass and fades quickly. The aroma is thick with sweet malts and a little alcohol. The malt aromas range from honey and molasses to caramel and chocolate. There are also notes of fruit in the nose - like fig preserves. The flavor follows the aroma - chocolate-covered caramels, toffee, waffles with maple syrup, molasses, and honey. The residual sweetness is strong, but not cloying - in fact, it’s delicious. By mid-palate, the fruity esters grow providing notes of dark, soft fruit drizzles with molasses and chocolate. There is also an earthy hop bitterness that combines with the fruity esters to give impressions of flowers. The finish is full and sweet with a balancing level of hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is full in body, low in carbonation, velvety, thick, and smooth. Overall, a delicious dessert stout. djd07 (751), Houston, Texas, USA

The aroma is a very sweet roasted malt and chocolate. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a very rich roasted malt, can really taste the alcohol. A good Imperial Stout from Left Hand. gam (1112), brisbane, Australia

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2008 2 years old, bottled 4/5/06, from boboski’s cellar. Pours virtually black, with a faintly translucent mahogany edge. A foamy, light tan head settles relatively quickly to a wispy film. Virtually no lacing noted. The nose shows ultra-rich, dark caramel, molasses, vanilla, and tons of melted dark chocolate. As rich and inviting as the aroma is, the flavor does not disappoint. Velvety choco-caramel, molasses, and mild licorice are wonderfully blended. Some lingering piney hops remain even after two yeas, indicating that this must have been a brash, hoppy monster when young. Finishes roasty and sweet, with tons of chocolate and caramel lingering on the tongue. Medium-full and silky smooth in the mouth, the light carbonation is perfect in this brew. Still finishes slightly warm from the alcohol and the pine resin, but it only serves to balance the brew out. This is a great beer that I’d bet has benefited greatly from two years in the bottle. The hops have subsided to the point where they balance things out perfectly. It should be mandatory that this beer be aged before consumption. I certainly know I’ll be seeking more out for some cellar time. Sincere (145), wichita, Kansas, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 11, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark and lazy chocolate color with a tan head. The aroma is of honey, chocolate and hint of wet leather. The taste is sweet and malty with a slightly hoppy finish. Very sweet. I prefer the Left Hand Oak Aged Imperial Stout 2007 over this but this brew stands on it’s own scaley feet.
