Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout is a silky smooth, very flavorful black brew. It is a traditional style of strong stout originally brewed in Britain for export to St. Petersburg, Russia. The malty sweetness of the beer is tempered by a medley of roasted malt and the aggressive use of hops. A long conditioning time gives the brew time to mellow and mature. The beer is not filtered, allowing every subtlety and nuance to be enjoyed.

Not bad. Pours a dark murky brown with very little head. aroma strong of chocolate but there is some coffee in there. Alcohol taste is well balanced. My taste for other stouts has been ruined since i tasted the bellls.

Bottled. A black coloured stout with a shirt lived tan coloured head. Full rich aroma. Mostly chocolate but also soy and coffee. Some roast in the taste; not as much as some impy stouts but it is there. Again rich chocolate and hints of soy. Good warming alcohol. A big tasty beer.

Dark pour with deep red tinge...thin, off white pour. Aroma is dark chocolate, hints of coffee and roasted malt. Flavor is smooth malts (caramel and chocolate), dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and some hop bitterness at the end. Alcohol burn is somewhat strong at the end as well, but nothing too ridiculous. Overall, this was a pretty good IS for the price, but the combination of a thin body and some odd licorice notes mixed in hurt it a bit for me...still a good drink though!

I love this stout. Wonderful roasted aroma with a hint of alcohol, pours dark but with a white non-frothy head. Creamy palate with only a slight taste of hops and hardly any taste of the strong alcohol content.

Small, very dark beige-brown head, dense; ruby-shot near black beer. Dark chocolate, tree bark, dark autumn leaves nose, and a distinct, but nearly hidden speculoos smell. Slightly ashy, dark malt-determined taste, rich, bready flavour, speculoos again, vanilla. Very rich texture, slick, vinous, and great. Has more of a Barley Wine, IMO, than of an I.S....

Deep dark ruby red body with a very compact light tan head. Chocolate and coffee in the aroma with some dried fruit showing up late. Smooth taste with some upfront roasty bitterness, warming alcohol, liquorice notes but a tad heavy in the body if you are a hurry to drink it.

Amazing! Saw it was pretty cheap at our BP and that it was also 10.4% so I thought I would give it a try and Im so glad I did. Sweet aroma, black as oil, and tastes great with an after taste of coffee. CHECK THIS ONE OUT!

Thanks Tikie for the taste of goodness. Poures black with small thin head. Smells sweet and taste like roast coffee. not a bad beer for the price.
