The aroma is roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate, and a hint of coffee. The flavor is medium sweet roasted malts, dark chocolate, some hoppy bitterness, and some alcohol. Medium/full bodied. This is a good stout, not quite great. KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway

Coal and chocolate, a vinous edge and a warming from the alcohol. A warming beer for when the leaves are falling. Recommended! jason (1623), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 14, 2007 Bottle. Deep brown pour turning into a nice black body with thin head. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate, alcohol. Flavor is bitter chocolate, vanilla, light hops and a smooth creamy taste. Light body for the high alcohol content. Not bad but a pretty boring Imperial Stout. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown with hint of red. Mostly opaque. Poured a nice 2 fingered tan head which disappeared quickly. Aroma was slightly sweet with notes of coffee and chocolate. The sweet/choco/coffee is all present in the nose as are the roasted malts and some toffee/caramel. I definitely also picked up flavors of whiskey and port. The hoppiness quickly becomes evident in the sharp bitter finish. Mouth feel is full bodied and warming due to the 10.4% abv. which is present but not overwhelming in the flavor. A nice imperial stout. I will have this again. bp (458), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2007 Bottle (appears to be stamped 04/06/06 but it is kinda smudged): pours dark black with a thin but lasting head, roasted malt, toffee and coffee aroma, taste is malty, dry with some coffee flavor as well and only a slight bit bitter, fairly thick mouthfeel, hides its alcohol pretty well. A very drinkable imperial stout. Theis (3765), Denmark

Taste of the same with the alcohol being very well balanced within the beer. Not the best but pretty tasty.
