Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout is a silky smooth, very flavorful black brew. It is a traditional style of strong stout originally brewed in Britain for export to St. Petersburg, Russia. The malty sweetness of the beer is tempered by a medley of roasted malt and the aggressive use of hops. A long conditioning time gives the brew time to mellow and mature. The beer is not filtered, allowing every subtlety and nuance to be enjoyed.

Vintage 05. Pours oily black with a very small white head. Aroma is chocolate milk with a little bit of hops. Taste has lots of chocolate malt, but the hops come though so it does not become a milkshake. Very smooth and different for the style, I really liked how easy drinking it is.

Bottle at the Rover, Göteborg. Dark amber color, brownish head. Malty, milky, salty aroma. Milky, malty flavor, salty, roasted, with some cocoa and chocolate and maybe some mint. Quite a nice bitterness giving balance to the beer.

Nearly black in color. Honeyed, weedy aromas with a definite sense of the hops in use. Grabby palate is also very smooth in texture. Lots of alcohol and dry notes on the finish. Sweet malts, but also a little bit mediciney. Tasty, but very aggressive.
