Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout is a silky smooth, very flavorful black brew. It is a traditional style of strong stout originally brewed in Britain for export to St. Petersburg, Russia. The malty sweetness of the beer is tempered by a medley of roasted malt and the aggressive use of hops. A long conditioning time gives the brew time to mellow and mature. The beer is not filtered, allowing every subtlety and nuance to be enjoyed.

Bottle. Tiny off-white head into black body. Strong chocolate and strong coffee are biggest presenters in the aroma. Sweet w/ slightly bitter finish. Very long finish duration. I haven’t had an imperial stout in some time, and I must say that I have missed them.

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 21 June 2007) Black colour with brief brown head. Roasted nose with distinct notes of chocolate, dark fruit, truffels. Slightly vinous. Roasted taste starting with chocolate truffels, after a while overshadowed by roasted coffee and with notes of citrussy hops coming through in the finish. Alcohol very well hidden, making it seductively smooth. Brilliantly balanced. Superb, smooth but powerful imperial stout.

Poured a nearly opaque black, with a small & quickly fading head, and good lacing. Fruity, malty aroma with slight coffee and chocolate, plus some vanilla and liqourice, and some floral hops in the background. A taste of deep, complex maltiness and excellent balance with the strong floral & spicy hops. Long finish, quite hot, and also hoppy and dry. Great stout.

Bu au Mondial 07.Bourgogne super foncé, moyen collet beige. Arome de café mocha bien sucré. Goût de malte torifier, café mocha mi-doux, avec peu de présanse d’alcool.

CBF07 sample from 22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a whuite head. Aroma of dark coffee. Flavour is chocolate and coffee, some hops, but nothing that brakes the dark notes. Finish is long and dark, again not really hoppy. Dry finish

bottled 10.5.05...sweet malty aroma like a box of honey nut cheerios...flavor is dark, nutty and lightly sweet with a rich vanilla mouthfeel. nice bitter chocolate finish. alcohol appears as it warms and the sweetness disapppears...weird? this would pair really well with a vanilla creme brulee for dessert....mmm, beer for dessert.
