Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout is a silky smooth, very flavorful black brew. It is a traditional style of strong stout originally brewed in Britain for export to St. Petersburg, Russia. The malty sweetness of the beer is tempered by a medley of roasted malt and the aggressive use of hops. A long conditioning time gives the brew time to mellow and mature. The beer is not filtered, allowing every subtlety and nuance to be enjoyed.

A solid stout. Solid black in color, fleeting creamy head (very thin for me). Roasted malt aroma w/ chocolate subtleties. Heavy drink, but well worth a try. I’m still more of a porter man though.

bottle poured a brown in color with a thin tan head. aroma has black coffee, roasted malt, molasses, and a bit of bitter chocolate. mouth feel is medium and the carbonation soft. flavor has bitter coffee, dark chocolate, and molasses. dark, bitter, and a bit of alcohol heat. certainly a swing for the fence beer but it is a bit rough.

0,355l bottle. Pous dark nutty brown with nice light brown head. Nose is packed with coffee, liquorice and roasted notes. Flavor echoes the aroma; the taste of espresso and alcohol warmness toward the end are the most notable elements. Leaves a bitter aftertaste. Nice Imperial Stout, no doubt.

Pours dark brown almost black with medium tan head. Aromas of coffee and choc. Tastes similar with a slightly hoppy finish. Good imp stout.

Small off white to tan head. Some lacing. Dark brown in color, not black. Aroma of malts, coffee and chocolate milk. Strong bourbon like alcohol flavor override everything else. Chocolate coffee with cola comes through and builds as it warms but never really over powers the alcohol flavor. Medium bodied, cola like thickness. Bitter alcohol finish.

Bottle @ Delirium Cafe, Brussels. Pours dark brown with a creamy head and lacings. Roasted coffee and chocolate. Lots of cookie dough, caramel, butter and milky chocolate. Medium and smooth palate. Too sweet to be really good!

22oz bottle. Pours almost black, minimal head, but I see some translucent redness around the edges of my glass. Shouldn’t an imperial stout be thicker and darker? Well, moving on, the aroma failed to entice me, and in fact I had to sniff the brew for quite some time to figure out what was going on. Maybe the alcohol was coming out in the aroma too much. It was a funky smell. Thankfully this brew tastes fantastic! Rich, roasted malt flavors mix with earthy Old World style hops. It’s a strong drink and it went straight to my head. Somehow after the first few sips that funky aroma became much less apparent and I even started to like it. Overall a very enjoyable effort from a brewery whose products I rarely enjoy.
