Taverner (432), San Ramon, California, USA Jun 28, 2008 Drinking liquid chocolate - yet there is no chocolate in this. You can’t taste alcohol a bit. Pours dark black with brown head that recedes, but leaves lacing all over. Creamy, smooth, and malty.
MrChopin (157), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2008 Pours brown with small beige ring-head. Aroma very sweet with sugar, light fruit, bread, minor notes of bitter dark chocolate, and some alcohol. Flavor is more pronounced but less complex: sugar, minor fruit, and slightly boozy alcohol. A little thin and watery on the palate. Sweet and fairly un-roasty, but this is another IS that succeeds at using the alcohol to compliment a sweeter body, and as a result, it’s kind of like a less successful GI Bourbon County. Rotorhead87 (108), Temple, Texas, USA Aug 17, 2008 Pours nearly black with almost no head. Has a wonderful full chocolaty flavor with some coffee present as well. This is closely followed by a nice spicy finish that mellows out and lingers in your mouth. Very nice body, not too thick, but not to watery either.
This is an excellent imperial stout. leaparsons (3878), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 15, 2008 Bottle. Near black with a small beige head. Aromas are earthy coffee and chocolate with lots of peppery spices. Also some Winter fruit. Flavours are smooth sweet chocolate with spicy hops and berries. Peppery and dry on the finish. Warming but not harsh in its alcohol. Very decent. Mitch_Wayne (77), Kokkola, Finland Aug 10, 2008 Suprisingly considering the higher ABV, this was much more mellow than the Great divide yeti I had in the same session. A bit on the sweeter side but I still enjoyed this a lot. daniele (721), Italy Aug 10, 2008 scura schiuma non abbondante ma piuttosto persistente note di caffe cioccolato leggero toffee abbastanza intense ed equilibrate una venatura di sottobosco in bocca buona tostatura piacevole amaro buona corpo tenore alcolico non infastidisce ma sim fa ben sentire retrogusto piuttosto persistente
