The high-water mark for me is Stone Imperial Russian Stout--a beer I an unable to procure locally. I stumbled across this in an unlikely place and it is very comparable to that great beer by Stone. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

Sweet front, and a very smooth mouthfeel......hard to believe it’s over 10% ABV! A mild malt finish with a slightly chocolate aftertaste. fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Black with a light tan head. Beautiful balance of malty sweetness, roasted malt, and pungent hops. The alcohol content is also in perfect balance with all the flavors and the hops serve to round this wonderful selection off. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 5, 2003 Dark brown bordering on black. I initially thought that it wasn't going to have a head, but then this thick, creamy, light brown head slowly formed as the bubbles rose from the bottom of the glass to the top, as if released by a widget. Quite impressive! Lacing is thin but coats the glass in a solid sheet. Hop aroma is immediately noticeable, then disappears as roasted malt and coffee notes spring up from underneath. Flavor has a definite fruit/grape quality to it, rounded out by sweet coffee. Finish is sweet, but pops with a little hop bite at the tail end. Lasting aftertaste of roasted malt. Super smooth on the palate. Alcohol is well hidden. This stuff drinks like a meal, and is quite excellent. HighGravity (891), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 27, 2002 A little light on the nose, but the palate makes up for the lackluster aroma. A thin tan head leaves lace. Lots of vanilla, rum, and whiskey flavors. The 10% abv is hidden well. This baby also delivers a nice does of hops. Good coffee and chocolate flavors. A must try. IMO it could be hopped a little more. Racegoer (338), Somewhere Out There, USA

Ruby red against the light shown from the computer monitor screen. Aroma is quick to tell you that this is a BIG beer.Coffee, roasted malts, smell reminds me of Alesmith, but no there is little that can match up to that one. Rich Robust flavour the coffee, caribbean rum, chocolate, the heavy malts, has Czar written all over it. almost a hint of native Kentucky Mash Whiskey here.Bourbon Balls made with single barrel Whiskey here. Warming!, second bottle will make it until it is so cold your words freeze outside, overall a complex vinious Stout that will Improve, damn I knew I should have bought more bottles, Highly recommended ! blank (998), Washington, Washington DC, USA
