Having said that, it’s not offensive in any way...just very subdued. Delirium (497), Santa Cruz, California, USA

Pours darkish golden with a medium white lingering head and nice lacing. Aroma is malty, somewhat sweet, with both bread and ginger. Flavor is the same, with the ginger a bit more pronounced. The flavor is best right up front, although not all that strong; the finish is weak and watery. An interesting experiment, but needs more punch in basically all departments. redlight (1475), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jul 24, 2006 It was a great fresh aroma, nice ginger. Pours a golden brown with lots of sediment. At first, it has a lot flavor, good malt and hop flavor, all with ginger on top, but the after taste just kind of went all watery? As i write this and finish the glass its getting a littler better. i’ll have to give this one a 2nd chance. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 4, 2006 I am not a huge fan of ginger in beer. I tried a beer like this at Fish brewing in Olympia, and it was not bad as this is not bad, but I just do not see the point. I am all for experimentation but this is just something that does not really goe with beer. Everything kind of pails in comparison to Pangaea though. Doughy bread maltiness, with some overwheliming ginger spice, and then the finish just drops off. A nice attempt though. UNCCTF (465), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 30, 2006 On tap at the Flying Saucer in Memphis (downtown). I like ginger.... I like beer..... but they don’t exactly go together. I would really prefer that my beer not have a spice to it. There were some bready notes in the aroma. It was pretty blah. waolsen (1222), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 27, 2006 bottle. did not pour. drank in red rocks parking lot before WSP concert. Ginger overwhelmed. Did not have a metallic taste like Dogfish Head’s attempt. However, it did not taste as fresh. ginger beers are kind of a novalty and this one didn’t go much beyond that. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 26, 2006 Cloudy orange with a small off-white head. Ginger definitely in the aroma with some dough notes. Medium bodied. The flavor was ginger but nicely done. Had agreed that this might go well with Indian food but, in retrospect, it doesn’t have the substance to hold up to spicey food. It would be overpowered. Besides, to me, the best drink with the heat and spice of good Indian food is still a nice glass of lassi. hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Bottle... Barely hazy, yellow ale with a small, whispy, white head. Decent retention. Smells casually of gingerbread with light nutmeg. Malty, spicy flavor. Good balance. Light to medium-bodied and fizzy. Short, crisp (then buttery) finish.
