Commercial Description:
Ingredients: Water; Malted barley; Ginger root; Hops; Yeast.
Our beer is basically a pale ale brewed from a relative low gravity, with some of the hops which would normally be used in the beer replaced by freshly ground ginger root. The beer is light in body, lower in alcohol, has a distinct ginger aroma, and has a very crisp finish. It was initially brewed as a refreshing alternative to the plethora of wheat beers which are popular in the summertime. Popular demand turned it into a year round beer.

I was intrigued by the use of ginger in a beer, and it’s use was definitely intersting. The strength of the ginger was strong in the aroma and it made itself even more pronounced once it hit my tongue. The lightness of the beer allowed the ginger to stay strong well into the finish. I can see how this would be a nice crisp summer beer.

Nice Ginger flavor. Good beer, especially nice for something different, a good change of pace brew.

Blonde pour into foamy white head that dissipates into carbonated bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass into a ring of bubbles around the rim of the glass. Aroma of yeasty grains and spiced citrus. Flavor of malt and spice fading into a doughy finish.

Bottle. Weird brew. Pours an amber bodyw with a white head. Spicy ginger, citrus, with a very thin body.

Golden to amber in body; little to no head; definite ginger aroma; lingering ginger flavor; some faint leafy hops, spiciness; very satisfying mouthfeel; not too complex nor bold; a summer beer.

Well, I have no idea what a beer like this should taste like, but on an absolute scale this was just OK, probably below average. Best thing it had going for it was a decent refreshing quality, and the ginger was neat. But I definitely wouldn’t give up my wheats for this.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of cereal and nutty, light herbs and dough for the hops and yeast with hints of honey and ginger. Head is small, frothy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy amber. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery yet a little creamy and has a lively carbonation. It finishes lightly astringent. This beer surprised me with a well balanced array of diversified aromas and flavors.
