Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Ok for starters. I’m a sucker for milk stouts so my opinion my be a little bias. That being said, this is a wonderful brew. Nice balance of malts coca and coffee. Excellent after dinner brew!

Black pour with a darker white head. Hints of chocolate and sweetness. Smooth tasting beer with a sweetness that isn’t overbearing. I rather enjoyed this beer.

Poured deep brown, almost black with a tan head that died off after a short time with decent lacing. Interesting hints of coffee and milk chocolate with a smooth mouth feel, and non eventful slightly bitter finish.

Poured from the bottle. Pour produced a dark ebony body, topped by a dark tan head of foam with light lacing. This was a heavy, creamy stout with a bittersweet chocolate profile, ending with a dry, bitter finish.

Thing to notice from the appearance here is the streaky lacing coming down the glass. Nice roasted malt aroma with some coffee dominating and a hint of cocoa. Flavor is the reverse of the aroma where the cocoa and chocolate dominate with a hint of roasted malt and coffee. The texture is smooth and creamy. All told this is a decent straight stout.
