Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Appearance: It had a dark brown/black colored body with a creamy tan colored head. The head started off thick then quickly settled down to thin covering that hanged on well. Lacing was good and slick siding down the glass slowly as I sipped. Smell: The aroma has some nice hints of roasted malt, sweet grain and coffee. Taste/Mouth feel: Its flavor matches the aroma but adds more sweet creamy notes to the overall character. The finish is fairly clean with some very light bitterness hanging on. Its texture is very wet and slick. It is just a little bit thin but still somewhat creamy with a light body. Notes: Overall I would say that it is a very nice, easy drinking stout with an average flavor and character.

More interesting than pleasant. the milk sugar makes it a bit sickening to be honest.

12 oz. bottle from my beer locker. Lousy weather outside, so I’m in for the duration. Poured a very dark brown into my trusty SA glass, with a foamy, light tan head and good lacing. The aroma was roasty, with a little smoke and wood, chocolate, light coffee with cream. The flavor was all of these plus some brown sugar/ molasses sweetness. Light to medium body, with soft carbonation, and just a touch of dryness in the finish.

Part of variety pack. Good for this kind of stout as a part of a reasonably priced pack. Sweet with roasted malt and chocolate, sweet but with some dryness at the end that makes yo want another taste.

On the sweet side, which reflects the style. Good toasted malt color and taste. Modest aroma. Dark brown color.
