Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Bottled, 355ml from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxon. Near black with little head. Drank pretty soon after the Bete Noire and it didn’t stand up against it at all. Sweet sticky stout with a molasses note, but not in a great way. Some chocolate, but really dead, dull flavours. I really cannot comprehend the high ratings. Poor stuff.

Black/brown pour, thick tan head. Cocoa aroma. Flavor obviously milky - milk chocolate and coffee. Real creamy aftertaste.

Smells like chocolate cake batter. Pours well with a decent head. The flavor reminds me of Whoppers candy. Good mouthfeel, nice and thick. This is my favorite milk stout that I’ve found so far.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown/black with a 2 finger tan head that leaves decent lacing. The nose is light lactose, roasted malt and ashy cocoa. Taste is cream, earthy hops, burnt chocolate and roasted malt with a bitter coffee finish. Creamy mouth feel. Not bad.
