Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Black, with just a hit of reddish color on the edges when held up to the light. 3 finger head. Smells really good, has a coffee smell. Taste has that coffee come through more, and chocolate, there are hops, but they balance this brew out perfectly! This is one mighty fine brew! One of the smoothest beers I have had! Great beer...

Dark black color. This flavor on this one is a little off. Drank this one right after tasting a Bell’s Kalamazoo stout. Probably skewed my rating a little. To much sugar for a stout.

Nice malty aroma...plenty of coffee and roasted chocolate malt. Flavor is quite unique....the sweetness of the milk sugar combined with the roasted coffee creates a cappuccino flavor....quite pleasant.

Bottle, pours black. Light but sweet chocolate and coffee aroma. Very nice. Heavy up front with roasted malt, coffee taste complimented with a nice creamy slightly chocolate taste. The heavy carbonation complimentes the creamy soft taste so it does not leave it watered down. No heavy hop taste unlike many stouts which makes this ridiculously smooth. Good stuff

Condensed milk chocolate nose. Blackish brown color, huge tan frothy head. Soft milk chocolate sweetness, some smoke, good bitterness. Well carbonated, silky medium body, satisfyingly rich finish. Very interesting Stout. Residual sweetness is very pleasant, really tasty beer

Jan ’08 bottle. Pours black with thick tan head. Aroma of light lactose, sweet roasted malts. Taste, roasted malts, light coffee and chocolate powder. Light and enjoyable mouthfeel of lactose with a nice hoppy finish. Very smooth and roasted.
