Nice sweet roasty malt aroma, with licorice, chocolate Twizzlers, and some Tootsie Roll. Bittersweet with mild neutral hop character. Light lactose sweetness and carbonic gaseousness. Dark black-brown clear, with thin mild tan lacing head. Medium watery body, smooth, with medium carbonation. Kinda velvety. Starts medium sweet, with chocolate, Tootsie Roll and licorice, and just a bit of coffee. Sweetness hangs around for a while, with roasted malt bitter finish. Light roasted burnt malt character and sour coffee. Mild bitter hop finish. Quite a milky, chocolatey character on this one. Tastes pretty fine. djones (119), Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Poors rich dark brown with a beige head. Sweet light coffee and caramel flavors. Smooth and creamy feel. Slight bitterness, though on the lighter side. Noticeably sweeter than many stouts i’ve had, yet pretty dry finish. Not my favorite style, but a very respectable dark beer. chicagodri (1074), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Creamy and sweat but just a little bit thin. Decent stout though. snook91901 (34), USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | Oct 30, 2008 Pours very dark brown with a dark tan head that is not as thick as hoped for. Good lacing though. Aroma is toasty malts and chocolate. It definitely delivers in the sweet department but fails to have the body to back it up. Overall, pretty ok. ceffalo (38), , Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Smells of a potent caramel. A nice and dark stout color. Almost no head. Flavor is chocalte and caramel with a nice milk like follow through. A residual bitterness that’s not too sharp. Nice, slightly stunted, stout. Slightly smoky. stchloe (491), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Very good stout, dark and sweet but not overpoweringly smooth. The lactose aftertaste is a bit off. douglas88 (1676), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Bottle thanks to daknole. Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head floating around. The aroma is very nice; sweet milky notes, some chocolate and roasted, nutty aromas. The taste is excellent; very easygoing milk chocolates and perfectly mixed in roasted malts, some light coffee and an excellent very creamy mouthfeel. I could drink this style every morning for breakfast, though, I doubt I’d get anything done. Very good. aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown/black with virtually no head or lacing. Aromas of sweet roasted malts, vanilla and some caramel. Flavors of sweet oats, some chocolate and vanilla. If the palate was a little bigger this would be one killer everyday beer. I think of this as a good intro to stouts for someone looking to try the style.
