Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Pours a dark chocolate brown with a thin tan head. Lots of coffee aroma. Flavor has chocolate sweetness in good balance with coffee malt bitterness. Slightly acidic finish. Nice beer.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a small and short-lasting tan head. Aromas of grain, roasted malts and a sweet sugary scent. The flavour is sweet and roasted with notes of caramel.

12oz. Mmmhhmmmm, this was a lovely dessert. Pours a beautiful deep brown with red highlights. Aroma is like a pastry shop with sweet caramel and bread notes, with some roasted coffee that the pasty shop also sells. Body is extremely tasty, like a sweetened latte. Palate is also very good, well lifted from carbonation but also palate coating richness. I love this style.

Bottle. Thin head on black. Big toasty dark roast aroma. Tasty, sweet, creamy stout. Black malt. Light chocolate. Hints of coffee and licorice. Not a lot of depth but strong and very quaffable. Sept 2008. 6/4/7/4/15 3.6 Pint at Abbey Brewing in Miami Beach. Black. Fair head. Creamy chocolate dusty aroma and similar delicious flavour. HInt of alcohol.

Bottle from D&J Liquor in St. Louis, MO. Bottled on date illegible. Black color with a good frothy tan head. Nice aroma of toasted malt and chocolate. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is definitely sweet, and for some reason suggests milky or milky chocolate. The toasted/burnt malt adds enough bitter to make this very drinkable. Really good.

Pint @ Dos Copas. Draft. This was a pleasant surprise. Pour of black with not much head. Loved the roasted chocolately aroma. Syrupy and full-bodied texture. Excellent sweet, roasted taste. Not much bitterness but delicious anyhow.

Dark brown with a thin tan head. Strong chocolate aroma and flavor with a hint of coffee. Malty and mellow, yet flavorful and very smooth. Excellent brew.
