Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Ultimately underwhelming. I had looked forward to this beer since a couple friends raved about it after trying a pint at Tapwerks in OKC. Dark pour, two finger mocha crown. Aroma is dry, roasty, heavy notes of coffee. After that it becomes very mediocre. Thin mouthfeel for such a dark beer, coffee laden flavor with medium sweetness and mild acidity. Not a whole lot of bang for the buck on this beer.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours pitch black with a small tan head and a sweet aroma. The taste is sweet and the mouthfeel creamy, the finish is a tad bitter, but mainly sweet too. I don’really like this, it is a bit too sweet for me

Tasted 7/8/08. Draft from The Stables, St. Louis, MO. Dark hued and opaque. Bubbled, clinging layer of beige head. Aromas of cocoa and milk chocolate. Mild coffee nose. Full bodied with a nice bitter/sweet meld. Vanilla and coffee. Toffee and earthy. Mild hop palate. Low coffee acidity and vinuous. Good rolling palate. Tangy even with the lactose. Mild spice and toasty. This is a standard for the style!

Poured black from a bottle with a small head. Taste was mostly rosted malts with a hint of coffee. I am not a huge fan of the style but this was pretty decent.

A great stout with a pleasing milk chocolate flavor. I paid too much for this beer, but I’m still happy about my purchase.

Bottle (Őllesummer 2008, Tallinn) - Black in colour with a small but thick head. Malty and slightly roasted aroma. The taste is roasted and slightly hoppy with a hint of coffee. Not bad at all.

Bottled - thanks to Reakt. A black coloured beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is berry fruit, burnt milk and fish. The taste is smoky with more berry fruit. Chocolate but no milk. Smooth and not as expected. I wanted this to have a lot of milky sweetness but instead I got fruit.
