Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Very dark pour with plenty of amber highlights. A big tan two tiered head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Some roasted notes as well. Flavor is as the aroma. It is plenty sweet and the feel is powdery. You may never find an easier drinking stout or one that works well in hot weather. A very nice beer.

Bottle. Lots of coffee and roasted malt in the nose and mouth. Some ripe fruits in the nose, some authentic milk flavor as well. Somewhat creamy, quite drinkable. Solid.

Bottle. Pours a black with a small white head. Aroma strongly of coffee, some chocolate. Flavor of coffee, bitter roast, and a sort of a parmesean cheese taste that I’m not sure what to attribute to. At first this was just ok, but it did grow on me a little.

Sweet nose. Rich and roasty with lactose sweetnes that is not cloying. Very nice balanced beer. EK golding hops in prefect balance with the rich sweetness of this beer.

If you like a malty chocolate milkshake, you will truly enjoy the thickest beer I have ever had. A little sweet but overall a great beer to end the night.

(Bottle at One Pint on 2008-05-31) Black. Small tan head. Roasted malts in nose. Full palate with some fizziness. Sweetness and roasted malts in taste. Also, taste of coffee with milk. Soft.

Appearance: Pours an opaque, black body with a bubbly cap of chalk white bubbles. Smell: Dark malt aroma with some roasty grain notes, a bit of scorched sugar and a pint of chocolate milk. Taste: Dark malts with a chocolate milk flavor. A bit of roastiness perks up. Crumbled fudge cookies. Medium sweetness. There’s only a mild bitterness present, so the beer certainly remains on the sweet side. Finishes roasty and milky sweet. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight creaminess. Drinkability: Not bad! A flavorful, sweetish milk stout.

*DNM/WBM* aroma: i smell some cocoa.. when i close my eyes and smell this beer i see a farmer with a sasuage hangin out of his mouth like a fancy cigar milking a cow has just recently made a special poo brew of her own. App: when i look at this beer i see the dryed blood of a great war from long ago.. a whole nation destroyed.. so many lost. .. the battle to place in a dry arid grassy plain. Flavor: when i close my eyes and taste this beer i see an idiot eating smores buy a campfire in the dark cold of a winter night.. he is alone, and a little scared.. but he does have smores. Palate: when i close my eyes and feel this beer with my mouth i see an escolator in a trendy socialy snob filled mall. OA: when i close my eyes and think about this whole experiance, i see a cow with mountians of sugar in its mouth that its chomping on while most spills out the edges.. as it chews.. it poo’s. and dribbles just the smallest amounts of chocolate milk out of its teat.
