Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Bottle. Clear dark red brown color with a large, creamy, excellent lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, milk chocolate, mocca, notes of vanilla. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft. (060208)

Dark brown with hardly any head. aroma was roasted malts & was thick and to the palate. Taste startes malty followed by a mild nutty flavor that ends with a sweet after taste.

I highly enjoyed this stout.....Poured a nice dark, brown with tan head with very nice retention.....Aroma of dark roast and chocolate....Flavor was nice, smooth, slightly creamy, and had excellent use of chocolate and black patent (I assume) malts, medium carbonation.......very nice...

Pours a dark dark brown, nearly black with no light passing through. A beautiful dark tan head that calms to a lasting tan film throughout the drink. The nose is roasted coffees, mocha, all those great dark, moody milk stout smells. The mouthfeel is smooth with light carbonation while the flavor matches the nose, heavy roasted flavors, mocha, coffee, toffee, and some chocolate and caramel. Not overly complex but one of my very favorite milk stouts.

Dark brown oily brew. Roasted sweet malty aroma. Roasted malts, sweetness and chocolate bitterness in the flavor. But a bit too sweet for me.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with reddish highlights and a medium sized creamy beige head. The aroma is chocolate, dark fruits, roasted, with an overall sweetness. The flavor is again chocolate, a hint of coffee, roasted malt, and dark fruits. I kept hoping there would be more to chew on with this one. Overall a decent sweet stout.

On draft at The Federal, Durham. I was eyeballing my neighbor’s pint, which turned out to be this brew, and I’m glad I dialed up a couple of these. A very nice thick pour, with an impressive lasting head. Nice sweet malt aroma and a huge mouthfeel, with more roasted qualities than I expected. Nice stuff.
