Commercial Description:
This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories(no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

355 ml bottle from a trade with Degarth. pours dark brown with red edges and not much head. aromas are coffee and chocolate but not big. i had to go searching for the aroma but once i found it i was pleased. flavours are some bitterness followed by milk chocolate. whats there is good i just wish the mouthfeel was fuller and the flavours were amped up. pretty good beer and very much apreciated as a bonus bottle! thx Degarth!

On tap at Flying Saucer. Has a dark brown with a medium tan head. The aroma is a strong roasted malt and chocolate. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is also roasted malt with a sweet chocolate finish. A very good sweet stout from Left Hand

Pours dark brown with a foamy, rather ugly brown head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, some licorice. Flavor sweet and fairly chocolately with slight smokiness and pronounced lactose notes reminiscent of whipped cream. Palate is fairly thick with soft carbonation.

Pours dark brown. Almost no light shines through. Foamy sparkling tan head that disappates to a nice skim of bubbles. Smell is of sweet milk chocolate with roasted malt notes. Taste isn’t quite as sweet as the aroma would lead you to believe.Mostly a fairly non descript roasted malts flavor with a hint of the milk chocolate that you can smell. Very good and enjoyable.

Roasty milk chocolate on aroma. Roasty, slightly sweet flavour in a... bit sickly way, with a bit of hops to finish it with. Odd but good.

Brown with a khaki head. Nutty, milk chocolate smell. Med body. Decent taste is chocolate and toasted malts. Finishes mildly bitter. Not too bad. 81005
