Feb 7, 2004 Updated: Mar 29, 2008[Sampled March 2008 - tasted blind] A dark deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel, roasted malt, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel, but also lighter notes of chocolate and vanilla, like an ice cream topping. The hints of alcohol tickles the palate.[7/4/7/4/15=3.7]
[First sample, February 2004] A deep red beer with a fine brown head. The aroma is very fruity with roasted and stouty notes - just as a stout is supposed to be. The flavor is fantastic; sweet malty with notes of roasted malt, coffee, and hints of chocolate. A fantastic beer - one of the best I’ve had. I wish I had this one available. [7/5/10/4/19=4.5]

Jun 26, 2007 Updated: Mar 26, 200812 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a dark red hue, creamy milk chocolate head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Soft malty flavoured containing roasted malt and chocolate malt. Nice mellow finish with no hops. Very enjoyable.7-4-7-4-15=3.7
From bottle, 5A Papsoes New Zealand vs US blind tasting. Pours amber/brown with a lacing tan white head. Smooth chocolate malt aroma. Mild coffee and chocolate malt flavour. Solid acidic note. Light fruity note. Ends with a lingering coffee and roasted malt flavour but still with a smooth chocolate note.7-4-7-4-15=3.7
