Pours a deep ruby with a two-three finger tan, rocky head with good retention but no lacing. Aroma is roast, semisweet chocolate, cheap coffee. Taste is a bit carboardy, lots of bitter chocolate, roasty. Nothing to write home about. A bit of an oily mouthfeel but still light-bodied overall.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a bit of a chestnut hue, capped with a modest sized tan head. Aroma is on the sweet side, with notes of cocoa powder, malted milk, and coffee in the background. Cocoa and roasted chocolate malt hit the palate first, and are joined by bakers chocolate towards the finish. Bittersweet chocolate clings to the palate for a length finish. Silky smooth mouthfeel makes this really easy to drink. Nice stout. tpd975 (252), Riverview, Florida, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2009 This is pretty drinkable. I’ve always had trouble with the darker beers with strong flavor. The flavor is smooth here though. A little carbonation, but not too bad. I taste a nice malty tone without being dominant. ttutony (105), Texas, USA
