Commercial Description:
2008 and prior years: This 10th Anniversary celebration Imperial Stout hibernated in our cellars in French oak wine barrels since deep in the winter 2002-03. An ambitious blend of rich, dark malts and a wild variety of aromatic and bittering hops yield a beer that is large in character. Available in cork-finished, bottle-conditioned 750ml bottles.

2009 release: Thanks for purchasing another offering in our Big Mo’ Series. Russian Imperial Stouts gained popularity as a British export style from the late 1700’s through WWI. It catered to the Russians’lavish and opulent tastes and was well suited to the rigors of shipping across the Baltic Sea. Hibernating in brandy barrels for nine months before being blended to woody perfection, it is then bottle conditioned for an authentic old world experience. Imperial Stout is the perfect warmer for chilly winter nights. Enjoy the complex flavors that develop during the cask aging, including raisin, cherry, licorice, and toffee. It finishes with earthy, herbal hop notes. If discontent is the fuel of revolution then this brew is sure to keep any Bolsheviks sitting quietly by the fire. 75% Malt Beverage & 25% Malt Beverage Aged in Oak Brandy Barrels

750 ml bottle. Pours a nearly pitch black color, thick dark brown head that quickly recedes. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and raisin. Very smooth to consume. Flavor contains hints of chocolate, oak, raisin, and alcohol.

Fantastic imperial stout. Pours very dark with a dark head. Slight raisin aroma. Thick mouthfeel with hints of oak and chocolate. Can definitely taste the alcohol but its not over powering. Slightly bitter but overall a very well balanced beer.

Wow. Got this from a secret backstage place in a beer store. Enjoyed the heck out of this on Xmas. A good balance. Still hoppy, sweet. Delicious and rich.

Its a dark brown color, and pours fantastically with a continuously bubbling head. The aroma is primarily chocolately with hints of raisin. It has a very thick mouthfeel, like milk. The flavor is a strong woody, chocolate flavor, and high alcohol. The finish is a bit smoother. The alcohol taste kind of ruins the nice chocolate flavor.

bottle- thanks to estoppel. A nice wine like aroma emanates from the bottle. roasty, sweet, and smooth going down with a lot of alcohol warmth. Decent.

2007 Bottle. Dark reddish brown body, tan head receding rapidly, nose of oak, sweet malt, and ethanol with vinous notes. Malty, chocolate, vanilla, oaky, hides alcohol well.

Bottle courtesy of Turdfurgeson: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a big foamy head with some good retention and some nice lacing. Aroma of sweet and rich malt notes are dominating with some roasted notes from the malt. Taste is also dominated by some rich sweet malt with some light bitter roasted malt notes. The oak is not very apparent apart from maybe some very subtle vanilla notes. Body is a bit thin but has some nice creamy feature with good carbonation. Interesting but not as complex as I was expecting.
