Commercial Description:
2008 and prior years: This 10th Anniversary celebration Imperial Stout hibernated in our cellars in French oak wine barrels since deep in the winter 2002-03. An ambitious blend of rich, dark malts and a wild variety of aromatic and bittering hops yield a beer that is large in character. Available in cork-finished, bottle-conditioned 750ml bottles.

2009 release: Thanks for purchasing another offering in our Big Mo’ Series. Russian Imperial Stouts gained popularity as a British export style from the late 1700’s through WWI. It catered to the Russians’lavish and opulent tastes and was well suited to the rigors of shipping across the Baltic Sea. Hibernating in brandy barrels for nine months before being blended to woody perfection, it is then bottle conditioned for an authentic old world experience. Imperial Stout is the perfect warmer for chilly winter nights. Enjoy the complex flavors that develop during the cask aging, including raisin, cherry, licorice, and toffee. It finishes with earthy, herbal hop notes. If discontent is the fuel of revolution then this brew is sure to keep any Bolsheviks sitting quietly by the fire. 75% Malt Beverage & 25% Malt Beverage Aged in Oak Brandy Barrels

Reddish brown beer with a small tan head. Malty and bready aroma with notes of wood and chocolate. Roasted malty flavor with a faint note of wood and a warming alcohol finish.

Pours a murky dark brown with an off-white head. Sweet and portlike. Also aromas of whiskey, chocolate and wood. Quite sticky and full. A hint of mint (???) in the dry, roasted finish. Very nice, but I prefer the not-oak aged version.

Quite sweet nose, with notes of coffee, and a light oaky touch. Very dark brown bnody with a red tint, small tan head. Roasty flavor, along with some coffee, ends on a light acidic note. I prefer the regular one.

750ml bottle pours black with a sudsy tan head that laces very well down the sides of the snifter. Aroma is big chocolate, vanilla, oak, and a touch of caramel. Flavor is a nice blend of dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, oak, vanilla and roasted smoky malts.. Mind-blowingly delicious. A great palate to this one too. Just airy enough to make it feel so smooth. Creamy and mouthcoating. This is very very good stuff.

750mL Bottle. Dark reddish black with a fluffy beige head that left nice wedding. Hints of chocolate and vanilla, with an alcohol burn. Subtle for the style, but smooth palate with low carbonation and a velvety texure.

750 mL bottle. Poured a very deep ruby with a very respectable layer of creamy caramel head. Creamy smooth caramel, deep roasted baker’s chocolate, red wine, oak, and vanilla combine beautifully in both the flavor and aroma. Nose became sweeter as this approached room temperature. Creamy and smooth across the palate, with some coffee bitterness on the roof of the mouth and at the finish. Long, deep, roasty finish with chocolate and oaky red wine standing out. This was really good!
