Commercial Description:
2008 and prior years: This 10th Anniversary celebration Imperial Stout hibernated in our cellars in French oak wine barrels since deep in the winter 2002-03. An ambitious blend of rich, dark malts and a wild variety of aromatic and bittering hops yield a beer that is large in character. Available in cork-finished, bottle-conditioned 750ml bottles.

2009 release: Thanks for purchasing another offering in our Big Mo’ Series. Russian Imperial Stouts gained popularity as a British export style from the late 1700’s through WWI. It catered to the Russians’lavish and opulent tastes and was well suited to the rigors of shipping across the Baltic Sea. Hibernating in brandy barrels for nine months before being blended to woody perfection, it is then bottle conditioned for an authentic old world experience. Imperial Stout is the perfect warmer for chilly winter nights. Enjoy the complex flavors that develop during the cask aging, including raisin, cherry, licorice, and toffee. It finishes with earthy, herbal hop notes. If discontent is the fuel of revolution then this brew is sure to keep any Bolsheviks sitting quietly by the fire. 75% Malt Beverage & 25% Malt Beverage Aged in Oak Brandy Barrels

Really a well balanced "big" beer. Pours straight black and a very nice chocolate and wood aroma which carry through in the taste with vanilla. Its thick but not overly so. Just a very good stout. Give me another!

2009 vintage, cask at the White Horse, Parsons Green, 5th July 09. Very near black, still, with a line of cream-coloured head. The oak notes from the cask aging definitely come through in the flavour. Rich, smooth, with the strength well-hidden. Not too oaky and actually quite light and drinkable. The strength still deserves respect though! Malt flavours are not too burnt and the palate is creamy rather than oily.

2007 vintage. Dark brown with a medium tan head that slowly fades away. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, alcohol, vanilla, oak, chocolate, dark fruit and mild licorice. Out of this world taste of chocolate, dark roasted malt, vanilla, oak, raisons and alcohol. Goes down ultra smooth and finishes up with a sweetness that leads way to warming. I like their milk stout, I really like the imp stout and this one outclasses them both.

Spicy, Roasty, Thick and Syrupy. Little Saltiness, strong flavor and smell of cloves and maybe nutmeg. Flavor is sensed all around the mouth. Strong. Bottle at Stop and Shop in Coral Gables, Miami.

22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet. Dark, but not entirely black, pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, and light hops. Incredibly rich flavor; dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, bourbon. Some alcohol burn with this one. This is really quite fantastic.

Watching the Michael Jackson dead news as I pour this.....crazy. Pours a thick black, tall tan head. Nose is very nice, oak, vanilla, licorice, some roasted malt, and a light whisky kind of note. The mouth on this beer is perfection to me....tons of silky smooth creaminess. Flavors are actually mild upfront, just some coffee, malt and a light sourness. Fades to a strong oaky backbone that rings out with some earthiness and a finish that sticks to the back of the mouth and lingers for a long time. Very nice.

Pours very very dark almost pitch black. Full bodied. On the palate I am getting coffee, upfront oak, chocolate and roasted malts. On the nose I get oak, toffee, coffee, roasted malt there as well. Nice beer. Had on tap at Capital Ale House Midlothian.

BOTTLE: dark black pour, licorice and roast on the nose. Medium body, oak, nut, roast on taste. Pretty damn good beer.
