Good head retention w/ spattered residual lacing. Aroma of sweet malted espresso and cocoa. Full nectar w/ chewy, creamy residual effers. Bacon fat malty sweet decadence striving for refinement armed w/ it’s powerfull hopsy switchblades that cut through the blubber. Huge chocolate and espresso w/ a moderate roast component. Vanilla bean, leather, slight charcoal, dark fudge, coconut milk, Moderately sweet balanced by the strict asprin hops that dig in and linger. Theres a pleasant chocolate covered cherry thing going on here. Nice! The finish is long and lingers forever leaving a slight nutty nuance w/ an asprin bittering component. Very warming. Alcohol is well hidden. Highly recommended. keith0718 (167), Olathe, Kansas, USA

WAY more drinkable than Great Divide’s Yet Imperial. Sweeter than other imperial stouts. Alcohol is VERY well hidden. I LOVE this. chimney (9), cleveland, Ohio, USA does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 30, 2006 enjoyed after sharing a different 750ml bottle with a friend and allowing this one to slightly warm and then served in a unibroue "tulip/snifter" glass. upon opening it instantly smell of a popular chocolate syrup. during pouring i noticed that it poured with a surprisingly large amount of head for an imperial stout, although the head didn’t last very long. once tasted it again, at first, tasted almost exactly like the popular chocolate syrup with a nice after taste of oak and alcohol with a linger of chocolate syrup. although a little "sticker shock", but perfectly acceptable being oak aged, it was well worth the money and extremely scary as to how easy it is to quickly consume because of it’s wonderful chocolate syrup flavor and extremely strong alcohol content. Aromas of malt, floral hops, raisins, apples and limes, some spice, espresso, alcohol, caramel, tea, tannin and port wine. Tastes wonderfully of dark toasted malt, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, ripe dark fruits, apples, strawberries, and hops. Nice bitter finish; leaves a slight chocolate taste behind. Nice mouthfeel, condusive to slightly cooler temps. I like to start with it fairly cold and appreciate the character development from fruity, hoppy, and bitter maltiness to mellow sweet malt and gentle warming alcohol. pilsnerrogge (1795), Finspång, Sweden

Oak adds just the right amount of vanilla flavor to mellow out the bitterness. On of the best Impy Stouts I’ve had, second only to Yeti.
