Good looking copper / mahogany body with a slim beige head. Straight forward Left Hand Impy aroma with just a touch of oak. The flavour is the same. I won’t rattle on, this is pointless. You know the Left Hand Impy, this is the same with a really tasty oaky hit. Sits really well with the wood. Feels really well integrated. The oaky character brings out a lot of what I really like about the regular version. Epic finish, it really is. It just lasts and lasts. It’s like an English old ale. Fits in REALLY well with the rest of the beers at the festival. Faint sourness is excellent as is the lingering liquorice and bitterness. Wanted to try this for a while. I was not let down at all. Qudos to the guys at the White Horse for putting this on. r1dermon (5), Massachusetts, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 24, 2009 pours a consistent dark brown/black, forms a lasting 1" beige head with medium retention. and excellent lacing. aromas are of pine cones, slightly malty, wafer cookies? interesting, but not very prominent. slightly salty with a pleasant bitterness, surprisingly creamy mouthfeel with a rich sweetness as it hits your tastebuds. very nice! milk chocolate, dark coffee grounds, and a hint of maple syrup. nicely balanced, carbonation is appropriate. finishes slightly bitter and pleasant, i also started drinking this at 45 degrees and the flavors really started to burst about halfway through, so perhaps the temperature had a little something to do with it. overall a very nice brew! Big fruit and hop aromas. Black and very strong in alcohol with a little dryness and oak flavour in a crisp and bitter roast finish. fonefan (11275), VestJylland, Denmark

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Had the 2009 edition. Aroma is not strong, but it is a bit smoky and has hints of coffee and molasses. It pours an opaque dark chocolate brown with a fairly thick pale tan head. Rich flavor is a pleasant surprise after the wan aroma - it is chocolaty with tones of molasses and nutty, toffee and coffee hints. There is a whisper of sweetness and a sharp alcohol bite. Texture is silky smooth yet fizzy and edgy. A good one. jasonp (1509), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Been aging this bottle for approx 3 years now. Upon opening the cork, there was no popping sound. Pours an unattractive cola brown with clear, ruby edges, no head. Some caramel, mocha and oak in the nose. Flavor is heavy on the sweet caramel, then comes some chocolate, earthy hop chracter and some oaky woodiness. Body is lifeless and nearly flat with a medium to light body. Flavorwise, it lacks the overall boldness you come to expect in an imperial stout. Disappointing. matthewjk (62), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Anytime I can enjoy an imperial stout is a good time. Left Hand’s 2009 Oak Aged Imperial Stout is not terrible by any means, but not exceptional. Nice looking dark ruddy appearance reveals a pungent, but not appealing aroma. This might be my first "Oak Aged" stout and my experinece confirms it means nothing but trouble! What’s the point? Potentially ruining a good stout? Overall...it’s just okay. I need to try Left Hand’s regular imperial stout to compare. mcjay (303), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA
