JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Feb 8, 2009 Tap at Blind Tiger. Hazy coloured deep brown beer with ruby highlights. Aroma is loaded with rich smoky aroma. Soft toasted caramel on the back with a touch of sweet plumminess under that. Loads of fresh baked bread with a very soft clean sweetness. Man, this is really tasty. Rich smoke and a soft fresh rye-like quality along with loads of toasted grains. Sweet and sticky, but still manages to stay clean. There is the faintest kiss of vanilla flavour, but any contribution from the barrel is pretty subtle. Malts are sweet and expressive while remaining subtle at the same time. As it warms up the smoke seems to settle a bit letting the sweet toasted caramel and bread crust come forward. Really tasty, tasty stuff.
