Cloudy orange, amber colour with a creamy off white head. Malty, caramel sweet aroma with fruity and light smokey notes. Malty, fruity and light alcohol sweet flavor with notes of wood.

A drinkable and very average barley wine. Aroma was so so. Hints of vanilla, oak and sweet malt. Pour was a nice deep murky brown with a thin tan ring for a head. Taste was subdued for a barley wine. Sweet hot malt, with just a hint of oak and a moderate alcohol burn. Decent carbonation. As it warmed a little caramel and toffee came out with the alcohol dominating. Average at best.

Fairly vibrant amber colour with lots of haze. Woody nose - both oak and hops, they go well together, plus large caramel/toffee malts. Mellow palate, with a splash of alcohol, lots of dry woodiness. Nothing special, but it’s quite well balanced, although it gets tiring quickly.

An interesting experience, and I’m not sure that this beer qualifies as a Barley Wine. In any case it was still tasty. A nice amber-golden body with a good ivory head. Aroma is somewhat oaky, but at the same time has hints of grass and more hops than expected. Taste is not hoppy and far more malty than initially expected. Sweet ending that seems slightly confused as to what it wants to be.

Pours a light amber with a medium (though quickly dissipating) head. It took me a minute to figure out what the powerful initial aroma was, because I wasn’t used to smelling it in a beer - it’s definitely oak. A musty, humid oak with a bit of apricot - very much like a good single-malt scotch. It’s absolutely in the flavor, too - I’m not sure I’ve ever had a beer that soaked up so much of the wood flavor of the barrels it was aged in. Really quite remarkable, almost too woody. Almost. You don’t get tired of the wood. It has a great smoky flavor - a sweet roasty maltiness that blends beautifully with the bitterness of hops. Seriously intriguing.

Thanks for sharing Alex (sick_boy282). Pours with a cloudy orange body topped by a medium thick, off-white head with some lacing. It’s sweet and malty with notes of licorice and woody hops. Full bodied, dry and warming.

Aroma is a mild sweet caramel and malt. Color is a clear orange brown with good carbonation and a nice tight head. Taste is sweet and smoky. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a sweet crisp feel. Finish comes in sweet with a smoky oak taste that comes across like toasted honey then a mild bitterness. In the after taste the smoke and bitter blend together and linger on a bit. Its a nice mellow, smoky Barley Wine.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of joergen. Hazy, amber golden with tiny impurities and an off-white head. Aroma of overripe fruit and alcohol. Good, solid body with plenty of caramel, overripe fruit and a distinct smoky note. Rather bitter and alcoholic finish. 190408
