[Bottle] Pours amber with a big cream head. Aroma is fruity with a little malt and some oak. The taste has a decent amount of hops with a lot of malt and light bitterness in the finish. Good mouthfeel, very smooth and with a long finish. This was an ok beer, but mainly just malt dominant and somewhat boring.

750 ML bottle dated 2007. Bottle opens with a loud thwop. Pours a clear ruby brown color with 3 fingers of very active foamy head that keeps lingering. Aroma of malt, hops, brown sugar, wood. Flavor is sweet malts, hop bitterness, smoke and oak that is is evident but not overdone. Very drinkable, and the alcohol is fairly well hidden. Decent barleywine with some really nice qualities added due to the oak.

750 ml bottle / 2007 - damn cork and/or cork removal skills!! took a while to get open, had to pick out some cork floaties and it didn’t get much better with this one; pours dark amber and mostly clear with huge white head; aromas were musky, woody and soapy sugars; thin bodied and has that dirty feet funk to it; slight smoke to it as well; drinkable, but definitely pushing it

Brown color with a large off-white head. Aroma is somewhat oakey with a decent malt presence. Flavor is bitter up front but mellows with a nice malt presence. Overall, finish is fairly sweet, but isn’t cloying. Some smokiness is also present, probably due to the oak aging. Good interesting beer, but it didn’t amaze me.

750ml caged&corked bottle. Pours a caramel brown with orange highlights. The beer is a little cloudy and has a thin, off-white head. The aroma is thick with syrupy malts, caramel, and an unexpected dose of smoke. The flavor has a bitter bite from smoke but is nicely balanced by malt: caramel malt and doughy, soft, sweet rolls. There is a subtle astringency and a decent bit of smoke at mid-palate. The finish is full with flavors of dark fruit, toffee, and more smoke. The mouthfeel is tingly all over, thick and bubbly, with a spritzy bite and full body. Overall, this is a funky, smoky, strong ale that hides its alcohol well. I was expecting more notes of wood, vanilla, or booze - but was surprised to instead find smokiness (a pleasant surprise though - the smokiness is enjoyable and adds a nice bit of complexity to the beer).

750 via trade with Kmweaver. Shared with my gf Cyn and dalekliz. Pours orange with a tan head. Nose is oaky and sweet and could be so so much better but it isn’t bad. Taste is sweet and very nicely balanced. Its a yummy beer it goes way beyond a dp, its a solid barleywine but it is totally drinkable and middle of the road. And it does have some smoke my gf pointed out. Overall I would take it over a lot, but i’d take a lot over this.

its good, but I’m not to crazy about this. It has the strong wood aroma that makes any beer a welcome. The taste seems a bit funky. still its got some minor piney flavors and the caramel malts
