Pours orange with a tan head. Nose is oaky and sweet and could be so so much better but it isn’t bad. Taste is sweet and very nicely balanced. Its a yummy beer it goes way beyond a dp, its a solid barleywine but it is totally drinkable and middle of the road. And it does have some smoke my gf pointed out. Overall I would take it over a lot, but i’d take a lot over this. Palidor19 (1785), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2008 Bottle. Dark copper with a small white head. Aroma is malty sweetness, wet wood and a little smoke. Flavor is sweet syrupy malt, wood and tree bark. The wood / bark actually makes it seem a little salty. Some light hop bitterness and wood linger in the finish. ChrisJ (100), Warrenton, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 10, 2008 Draft @ the brewery. Pours in hazy copper/amber and produces a respectable off white head. The aroma is fruity, nutty definitely oaked. The flavor was really oaky, much less hoppy than I expected. Also a considerable amount of malt some notes of nuts and produced a flavor of Rochefort cheese. Decent carbonation, slight warming from the alcohol. Very nice.
