Commercial Description:
This beer is available each autumn in celebration of the great Bavarian festival season. Brewed in late spring and cellared throughout the summer, our Oktoberfest is produced through traditional methods as it has been for centuries in Germany, This copper-hued lager owes its rich malt flavor to a generous combination of select Vienna and Munich malts. Cool, open-fermentation develops a subtle elegance and drinkability suited to any festive occasion.

Bottle, on recommendation from Rob at Goebel’s in Wichita.
Pours a beautiful mahogany with a pleasant aroma of autumn spices- cinammon, pumpkin, and a dash of nutmeg. Flavor is a continuation of the aroma but with an emphasis on roasted nuts. Still, hints of pumpkin and nutmeg are in the background, with cinammon lagging behind. Nice mouthfeel; very pleasant along the palate. A touch of fallen leaves leaves (ha, that sounds funny) a slight trail along the back of the tongue. Probably the best Oktoberfest I’ve had, or at least that I can remember right now. Hope this makes it to Houston.

Chocolate malt hints in the aroma. Nice swirling cloudy brownish pour from the gunk on the bottom of the bottle. Perhaps I detect some orange color in there too. Quite malty strong on the tongue. From the taste, I would say this is a fairly strong alky brew. Weird shrub bark flavors down in the palate somewhere. None of the aroma seems to carry through to the flavors. Finish is mildly annoying and obrusive. Not many mild mannered O’fest attributes here. I like my o’fests to be a little more well behaved!

(bottle - 12 oz) Amber in color with a small tan head. Aroma is very light and slightly malty with a small hint of sweetness and fruits in it. Flavor is sweet and loaded with cherries, dough, citrus, apple skins, and a strong malt backbone. The finish is lightly bitter and lingers on the tongue. A bit too much.

Draught. Low white and quickly disappearing head. Clear dark brown body. Malty caramel aroma Flavor also malty caramel but with a somewhat sharp bitterness that reminds me of juniper. Low carbonation, long aftertaste.

12 oz bottle. Aroma of sweet cookie, cherries, and a mild earthy and citrus lemon. Pretty uninteresting pour, minor head, fairly light with some slow carbonation and a decent looking scarlet-orange color. The flavor overall was not the best and did not balance out very well for me, very sweet with cherry syrup, caramel cookie, and a minor citrus-lemon hop into the finish, too thick of a feel to go with the pretty watered down flavor. Honestly, not very impressed with this one.

12 oz bottle poured medium brown and orange with an off white head. Probably too dark fro a marzen. Vegetal aroma and when drank slightly herbal hop bitterness and caramel. Slightly thick for my liking, but a decent marzen.

Draught at the brewery. Clear orange coloured with a medium sized off white head. Sweet aroma of malts and caramel with notes of butterscotsch. Sweet flavour of malts and caramel with notes of fruits, dried fruits and hops. Hoppy finish.
