Aroma is caramel malts, bready notes as well as mild hoppyness. Flavour is quite much the same with some grassy notes in the finish. Rather boring brew... Steely (168), , Sweden

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 27, 2008 Golden amber (like autumn) with a tan head, deep aroma from the woods creates a wonderful ambience for expectant taste buds, but the flavor is overwhelmed by malt, whoa!!! A but of disappointment for a lefty like me, rooting for the eponymous brewery. MoDog (927), Griffith, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 27, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle (dated 090308) and served in a shaker. This beer poured a clear copper hue with a thin head of fizzy off-white foam that quickly faded away. Almost no lacing. The aroma consisted of strong toasted caramel and a solid dose of noble hops. The flavor was much the same, with a mildly bitter finish. The mouthfeel was smooth and medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. A pretty standard O’fest, but one that I would drink again. omhper (12247), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2008 Bottled. Clear nut brown, creamy off-white head. Caramelly nose. Piney hops covers the chewy caramelly malt. It’s sweet with a syrupy breadiness. More full bodied than oktoberfestbiers and much more hoppy. Grainy, caramelly finish with salty bitterness. With it’s firm body and heavy impact it is a perfect dunkler bock. dkachur (2404), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 26, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse bottled 08.27.08. Red color with a thin head that disappears almost immediately. Boring and faint grainy aroma with some subtle caramel notes. Very grainy taste with a nutty and leafy vibe going on. Some caramel and fruit notes as well. Medium bodied. Overall and very underwhelming oktoberfest. Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Pretty average marzen, here. Pours decent with a good head and a typical marzen hue. Smells like a bit of bready malt, but overall a weak nose, nothing impressive. Tastes pretty average, nothing stands out. As it warms some sweetish candy caramel flavor comes through, which is pretty much the single standout flavor of this beer. Overall pretty average with a few special notes, but passable when compared to Flying Dog and Hacker-Pschorr’s marzen brews.
