Toasty caramel aroma.
Flavour is sweet and malty. Some cutting bitterness towards the finish keeps it from being too sweet.
A little disappointing since the first Left Hand I had was the milk stout which I thought was very good. BillKismet (1946), Seattle, Washington, USA

Some dank hopness dissipates to let out a whiff of Vienna malting. Subdued malt and hop flavor. An amber lager that seems quite reserved for an Oktoberfest. Nontheless, this is an easy drinking, mildly flavorful brew. Slightly sour tannin on finish. Second rating ƙ/1/09) made a significantly better impression. Toasty malts accented in aroma and flavor. Sturdy Munich malt character and hints of melanoidin. A very solid American rendition of the style. johntreeter (122), Greenwood, Indiana, USA

Carmal and roasted nose. Nice big carmal roasted malt marzen flavor with a a touch of earthy bitterness to balance the sweetness. Med body, light carb, light syrupy texture and feel. A nice octoberfest that I will certainly enjoy every fall to come. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 23, 2008 Malty raisiny nose. Diluted cola colored with brownish orange tones, medium head, dissipated quickly. Really solid bitter-sweetness balance, one does not overpower the other consider the flavors are big. Gentle carbonation, medium to full body, long malty finish. Very well put together beer. theisti (1680), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at Lukas in Overland Park, Kansas. Bottled on 07 16 2008. Pour is crystal clear ruby golden with a foamy one inch off white head. Head falls to reveal nice lace. There are a few visible carbonation bubbles that cling to the side of the glass. Aroma of toasted malt, very much like "toast" - with some caramelized sugar under that. Taste is the caramelly toasted bready malt with some almost cherry sweetness. Palate is slick and medium heavy. Sweetness in the flavor most certainly hangs around. There is just a hint of spicy grassiness as this warms which is nice. I enjoyed this beer, though more than one glass may be a bit much. The aroma was lots of malt with a bit of light spice. The flavor was malty, slightly nutty and kind of sweet. Not much in the hop department. A bit metallic on the finish. zombywoof (358), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
