Commercial Description:
This beer is available each autumn in celebration of the great Bavarian festival season. Brewed in late spring and cellared throughout the summer, our Oktoberfest is produced through traditional methods as it has been for centuries in Germany, This copper-hued lager owes its rich malt flavor to a generous combination of select Vienna and Munich malts. Cool, open-fermentation develops a subtle elegance and drinkability suited to any festive occasion.

Caramel-copper color. Smell of malt, hops, caramel and spice. Taste of toffee, malt, hops, bread, caramel and flowers. Metallic aftertaste at the end

Draft sampled. Pours amber in color with a small white head. Aroma of caramel, roasted nuts, and light toffee. Flavor follows the aroma with a medium body and a clean and smooth finish.

bottle. immaculate, almost over-compensating head, it pours like an okt’fest; deep, true amber hue, crystal clear. aromas of yeasts and malts, like a true lager. there’s a little yeasty nutmeg and curry powder here, as well as a typical okt’fest; also, dark ripe fruits. taste is a bit airy, of unsweet toffee and slight nutty flavor as well. yeasts are here, as are mild malts. it tastes like a concoction of fall and, well...october. kudos, Left Hand!

Pours brilliant copper with a solid stand of off-white head. Aroma is fairly sweet with lightly toasted malts and some noble hops (especially on the pour) imparting some nice cherry and oaky notes. Flavor is mild and pleasant with a soft, clean lightly toasted maltiness. Moderately dry throughout, but moreso in the finish. Body is rather light, but the mouthfeel is smooth with medium light carbonation. This is a really easy drinker and pretty solid style-wise.

Bottle. Nice head. A little light for an oktoberfest. Aroma is mild moldy. Taste is deep, earthy and tastes like the hops were harvested too young and has a hint of mocha. Altogether, not a great showing from Left Hand.

Bottled on 8/22/07. Poured clear medium orange with a grayish-beige head. The aroma picked up almost artificially-sweetened toasty caramel with herbal and dried leafy notes. The flavor had the same sweet caramel base with an almost sour herbal and medicinal bitterness surrounding the tongue.. otherwise sweet and pleasant enough. Light-medium bodied.. sour at a couple points, almost syrupy at others.. overall a decent flow and feel. Not a good Marzen, but not bad either.

Typical Oktoberfest pour...pleasant but unremarkable. Very sweet malty aroma. Good flavor...obvious malts, though sweeter than most. A bit high on carbonation, but not excessive...a good Marzen.
