I wanted to do a head to head comparison of this beer vom fass and in the bottle. The aroma is really quite amazing in its level of sweetness. Smells just like toasted marshmellows and a bit like bubblegum. This is a sweet beer. The smooth and silky mellowness really comes out in the tap version, but it is quite sweet and smooth from the bottle as well. This has the perfect appearance of a festbier. Dark amber acorn color with a thick beige head. Surprisingly good beer for an abused style. BDR (2161), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Aroma of biscuits and other light malts. Taste is similar, with relatively high carbonation. Smooth, sweet mouthfeel. Usually I am pretty picky with this style, but this was a good one. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Nice golden amber pour with a sustained three-fingered head. It has an aroma of sweet toasty malts with a subtle trace of earthy bitterness. The flavor is much the same althouth the earthy/floral hops increase somewhat as the drink progresses. Decent enough.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Deep amber body with a beige head. Aroma is heavily malty, lots of graininess. Flavour is mostly simple after a really nice aroma. Starts out sweet and thin, develops very mild toasty notes and finishes with a little bitterness. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2007 12 oz. bottle pours an orange/amber with a yellowish tan head of medium duration but little lace. Fresh toasty grain aroma and no discernible hop fragrances. Medium body and carbonation, nicely rich and smooth without any sugary stickiness. Good flavor balance for the style, leaning toward sweet, and light bitterness coming on late. Overall, pretty decent and true to the traditional style. RSRIZZO (1368), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 24, 2007 Aroma is a light dry malt scent. Color is a bright golden brown with very good carbonation and a nice head. Taste is a carmel malt favor with light bitterness. Starting with medium body it goes down with a crisp yet smooth feel. Finish is a sweet carmel malt flavor backed by a faint hop flavor and mild bitterness that leads into a dry after taste. Its a light and refreshing Oktoberfest .
